A golf course in the heart of the bay of Morlaix

Interview on the strengths and technical aspects of the Golf de la Baie de Morlaix

Florian Le Guen, Golf Director, answers questions from Golfy

The Golf de la Baie de Morlaix boasts an exceptional natural setting. But beyond the scenery, it embodies a true philosophy of the game. We asked its director, Florian Le Guen, a few questions, and he explained why the 9-hole format deserves golfers' full attention. Accessibility, technicality, enjoyment of the game, strategy…

Why play on a 9-hole course? What are the advantages?

Florian Le Guen, director of the Baie de Morlaix golf course , answers our questions.

A 9-hole course at Golf de la Baie de Morlaix allows you to play in a superb setting, to have fun, to train, while being accessible, fast and economical, whether you are a beginner or more experienced.

The route offers beautiful views of the sea and Clouët beach, protected from the prevailing winds by woods, which makes the experience even more enjoyable even for a short game.

What makes your 9-hole course on the north coast of Finistère so special?

Despite its "easy" appearance, it is a technical 9-hole course, particularly on the greens and approaches to the green , which allows for great games for the most seasoned competitors.

Mastering wedge shots and a good tee-off strategy will make a real difference to the players' final score. This course is a true chameleon, allowing you to enjoy golf with friends or family , regardless of your skill level – from green card level upwards – and without ever losing sight of the sea!

Which hole surprises players the most and why?

From the 8th tee, there's a panoramic view across a large part of the bay, making this hole as enjoyable to play as it is to admire. Despite its moderate distance, the 8th hole demands good wind management and a precise approach, especially if the greens are in good condition on the day of your round.

This par 3 is one of the key holes to score a good score or, on the contrary, lose a few strokes, because an error in estimating the wind or the club can easily be costly.

The Golf de la Baie de Morlaix, one of the most beautiful courses in Finistère

Yes, it's a true visual experience every day; the colors of the sea are constantly changing with the tides and the weather. Between holes, rounds of golf are enhanced by a panorama that never gets old.

Nestled between the wooded hill and the Clouet beach south of Carantec, bordered by the famous GR34©, opposite the Barnenez Cairn, the Golf de la Baie de Morlaix is nestled in a unique natural setting.

The Château du Taureau, a sentinel designed by the architect Vauban, watches over the Bay of Morlaix. The silhouette of this stone building is drawn above the waves: the "Sea Watch".
